Big Band, Big Band - Committed to Soul
It's been some time since we last played together, but when GOTG asked us to play for the 10th Anniversary it was a very quick and loud YES! It was a blast playing at the first one and we are really honoured to be back again.
We're older, wiser, better musicians - but more than anything we're still committed to blasting out those classic tunes from the greats of Stax and Motowns. We've even put in a few warm ups so we're ready to raise the temperature of playing fields in September.
Come and join us - we'll give you something to dance to.
Their roots are in the late 70’s London revival of 1950’s Rock ‘n’ roll and while musical and style fashions have come and gone, they have stuck to their guns and deservedly become highly respected and in great demand.
Paul (vocals & guitar), Lol (double bass) and Brian (drums) were the powerhouse behind the original 80’s line up and together with Krzys (piano) and Norman (saxophones) they are dedicated to bringing their irrepressible big rockin’ sound to eager audiences old and new.
TV and radio appearances, vinyl albums, CD’s (five currently available) and thousands of live gigs all over the planet bear testament to the timeless appeal of their no-nonsense, unpretentious and uncompromising style they call ‘Maximum Rock ’n’ Roll’
These boys are black belts in 1950’s style Rock ‘n’ roll and during their years together have explored and studied every aspect of playing and presenting their chosen medium at a level few have reached, delighting audiences and inspiring new talent along the way.
Their message is simple - real Rock 'n' Roll, Jive, Rockabilly & Blues as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be evermore. Rockin' without end.
A hard act to pigeon hole due to his versatility he would probably claim to be the love child of Justin Bieber and Gene Simmons of Kiss. Which just goes to show that he doesn't take himself too seriously.

Keep it simple, keep it straight, not quite a curly lead into a bashed up head but not far from it…!
Although Neil has a quirky approach to life as this quote testifies, he actually has a calm and quality style of blues playing that is a little reminiscent of Chris Rea. A great way to relax with a beer in the evening.

The Ironics are Walgrave’s most local band – 3 of the members hail from the village, 1 from nearby Cherry Hill, and an interloper from Creaton.
The recently formed band are an eclectic mix of experienced and less experienced musicians.
They are predominantly a rock and blues based covers band playing popular music from the ‘60s to the present day.
‘Possibly the best band in Walgrave’ – one band member.
‘Possibly the only band in Walgrave’ – another band member.
‘Alright – don’t get smart with me!’ – first band member.
‘Well you started it!’ – second band member
Anyway, these guys take themselves very seriously – they sometimes even practice! They’ve toured extensively in the short while they’ve been together – well ok, they popped over the border to Leicestershire once!
The thing they do above anything else, is have fun, and they hope you have fun watching and listening to them.
